Summer Vacation

Summertime = POOL!!!!!!

I seemed to have missed a whole month... WHERE DID JUNE GO? I can't believe we are smack dab in the middle of summer and I haven't posted anything about our first summertime adventures. As I bring you up to speed, I'm sure you'll see why.
First of all, we have a crawler. And not just a crawler, but a 'gotta get somewhere fast and can't wait to walk' kind of crawler. Kate is definitely a by-product of her mom and dad. First, she gets her need to 'master every skill' from me. There is endless practice and pushing herself to the next level by trying to stand up and walk :) Second, she gets her 'gotta keep moving - can't waste a minute of the day' from her dad. She is going so hard that she tires herself out every day. Bedtime seems to be getting earlier due to our new found abilities. Here are a couple of pictures of our little mover.

I'm coming to get 'cha!

I'm a big girl!

We spent a great weekend in Atchison at the beginning of June celebrating our Niece's baptism. Caroline Elizabeth Apple was baptized on June 5 and it was a wonderful day. Kate dressed up in her Sunday best and we played with cousins until we couldn't play anymore.

Sitting with Daddy and then with Aunt Cindy and Baby Caroline

On June 18, Kate and I took a trip down to Texas to start a long vacation (10 days to be exact). We left Tim for the weekend because I had a girls trip lined up with my besties from Lufkin High School. We do a girls trip every year and thi was was even more fun. There were many margaritas, much pool time and tons of yummy food. We danced and talked and laughed and even cried. I miss my girlfriends so much and appreciate every moment I get with them.

I picked up Tim from the airport on Sunday and we started our true summer vacation in Lufkin. Tim's boss was nice enough to let him work remotely in Lufkin so that we could all spend our evenings together. We played some golf and spent our evenings at the pool. Kate absolutely LOVED it! She splashes so hard that we thought she was just going to jump out of our arms and swim on her own.

Splish Splash and then plenty of kisses for mommy!

We returned home on June 28 and now we see how June slipped by us. I guess that is what they mean by crazy days of summer! Even though the days are longer, we still don't seem to have enough time to get everything done that we want. I guess that is going to be the story from here on out.
On the work front, Tim continues to travel to Chicago every week and is doing a great job with his program at US Cellular. We miss him so much during the week though. We make up for it with lots of hugs, giggles and kisses on the weekends though.
My work is very interesting. As of Wednesday 7/1, the acquisition of Embarq by CenturyTel was complete. We are now CenturyLink although the brand rollout won't be complete until later this year. Things are going well and are super busy, although confusing. Organization announcements aren't complete so things are up in the air for where I will land. Hopefully we will have direction sometime soon and can start building our teams and get moving forward for the company.
We had a great July 4th and I will blog about that as soon as I receive the pictures from Aunt Cindy (I forgot my camera... tsk tsk). We hope that all of you had a blessed holiday weekend!
